Why Valor Exists
Many young men are struggling because of underperforming schools, identity struggles, and a lack of spaces that reflect their culture, values or history.
Valor is changing that.
Our school day is designed to provide ample opportunity for emotional intelligence coaching, leadership development, project-based learning, and faith-based instruction—all in a safe, supportive environment.
At Valor, we’re raising up young men of honor, purpose, and impact.
Our Mission, Vision & Values
Our Mission
At Valor Preparatory, our mission is to cultivate young men of integrity, wisdom, and resilience by providing a Christ-centered education that nurtures intellectual curiosity, civic and community consciousness, strength of character, and servant leadership through learning experiences and career exposure.
To accomplish this, we offer an individualized Christ-centered problem based learning that provides lots of physical activity and focuses on thoughtful learning experiences.
Our Vision
At Valor Prep, our vision is to raise up young men who glorify God through their conduct, service, and pursuit of excellence.
Our graduates will be known as trusted assets in their communities—servant leaders who respond to the needs around them with wisdom, empathy, and courageous action.
They are steadfast in love, unwavering in hope, and fervent in prayer.
How We Teach
At Valor Preparatory Academy, we believe that education is about academic achievement AND shaping God’s young men in the making.
Boys ages 11-14 learn through hands-on activities, real-world projects, and one-on-one coaching that meets them where they are and helps them to increase their skills. Middle school boys learn best when they can move, explore and connect their studies to meaningful experiences.
What Makes Valor Different?
We believe that education should prepare students to make a meaningful impact in our ever changing world. What makes us different is our focus on developing leadership skills and emotional intelligence with traditional subjects.
Our boys participate in community service projects, work with local businesses on real challenges and develop the confidence to speak up and lead.
We focus on teaching and restoration rather than punishment. Boys learn to understand their emotions, take responsibility for their actions, and make better choices moving forward. This approach helps them grow into young men who handle challenges with wisdom and integrity.
Every boy has God-given potential. Our job is to help him discover his strengths, develop his skills, and prepare him to serve his family, church, and community as a confident, caring leader.
Our Journey to Building Men of Valor
Valor Preparatory Academy was born from a deep desire to address the unique challenges boys face during their formative years.
Our founder, Andrew Wells, M.Ed., witnessed firsthand how young boys often struggled with the tools needed for self-expression, emotional resilience, and leadership, all while navigating the rigid structures of traditional education.
With our innovative approach, The Valor Edge, we empower young men to excel academically, grow emotionally and become Christ-centered leaders.
Our Founder
Andrew Wells, M.Ed.
Andrew Wells didn’t set out to start a school. He set out to solve a problem.
As a middle school teacher and private tutor, he repeatedly watched boys fall through the cracks; bright, curious, and capable young men who struggled with emotional expression, organization, and self-confidence in environments that weren’t built for how they learned or led. Again and again, he encountered families looking for something more: a school that understood how boys grow, what they need to thrive, and who they’re called to become.
That conviction became a calling. And that calling became Valor Preparatory Academy—a Christ-centered, all-boys microschool rooted in structure, brotherhood, and purpose.
With a background in middle grades education and as the founder of Breakthrough Georgia LLC, Andrew brings over a decade of experience supporting students across Metro Atlanta. His work has consistently focused on helping boys build resilience, communicate clearly, and take ownership of their learning.
At the core of Valor Prep is Andrew’s signature educational model: The Valor Edge—a three-pillar approach to developing:
Academic Mastery: equipping boys to think, speak, and write with clarity and confidence
Emotional Intelligence: fostering self-awareness, empathy, and social-emotional growth
Purpose-Driven Leadership: preparing students to lead with integrity in their families, churches, and communities
Andrew’s vision continues to shape every aspect of school life at Valor Prep, from the way boys are challenged to grow, to how they are supported emotionally and spiritually. His leadership ensures that every student is equipped to become a man of wisdom, courage, and integrity.
